Training description:
This module consists of a one-day training session.
Following the training, you will have the opportunity to give one or two presentations in classroom in high schools, starting in September 2026, depending on your availability. During this/these session(s), you will be invited to present your academic background, your field of research, and your specific research topic.
Context and Objectives:
Sharing and communicating scientific knowledge is a core component of a scientist’s institutional responsibilities.
This training module, led by experts from the Centre Cosmos, Sciences et Société of the Astroparticle and Cosmology Laboratory (APC), aims to:
- Provide general tools and methods for effective science mediation, particularly tailored to school audiences.
- Promote inclusive and open science communication practices, with the goal of strengthening the connection between research and broader society.
The module is part of the interdisciplinary PHYSIS research project, jointly coordinated by Cosmos, Sciences et Société and the Laboratory of Developmental and Educational Psychology (LaPsyDÉ). One of the project’s core objectives is to investigate how scientists’ in-class presentations can help students challenge common misconceptions about scientific careers and encourage them to envision their own futures in a more informed and empowered way.
The initiative particularly aims to inspire high school students—especially young women—to consider pursuing studies and careers in science.
We work in partnership with several schools in Paris and the Île-de-France region. Your classroom presentations may be integrated into this research project. The date and school of your intervention will be coordinated with the project team starting in September 2026.
